Unpublished | FL

Here you go, cyberland. The poor bunch that didn't make the Instagram cut from Florida. If you'd like to see what did make the cut, you know where to find me. I shudder at my self-promotion sometimes.

I liked the photos too much to let them go to die in my hectic camera roll of screenshots and 80 million takes of the same sunset photo.

Take a look at my other Instagram related posts- how I edit, perhaps? Or if you'd like a good laugh, hashtag behind the gram should suit your comical desires.

Behind the 'Gram | II

What time is it? (time for you to get a watch).

Jokes, jokes. But really, it seems as if everyone at school finally understood that a watch was a practical thing to own. And oh-em-gee, and it can look good.

On that note, let's get back on track and try that again.

What time is it? Time to dive back into behind the gram. Instead of revealing how I get the 'gram- cue ridiculous things people do for social media-, let's discuss how I take it from the phone, through several editing apps, then to good ol' Instagram. Plus, go and read some other tips of mine regarding the perfect shot.

Shall we dive right in?.... don't forget to follow me along at @sailingseastyle

The main goal of my Instagram is to give you a glimpse into my day to day life (except for what I eat... #eatitdonttweetit). The power of Instagram is that I can take a basic image or a small moment of my day- like this old man looking quite dapper crossing W 4th St- and bring it to the next level.

Like always, let's get the ball rolling... leave a comment below for any Insta related questions or comments. What app do you use or what do you find the hardest about getting the 'gram?

Crazy to think we are actually talking about the art behind an app. Indeed it is the 21st Century.

Number One

Since beginning my turtleneck obsession last winter, I've racked up quite a collection. I've done a video on how to wear it three different ways and have sported my favorite cold weather piece numerous times, so it's quite obvious why this piece is number one in my sartorial winter handbook. Despite many purchases, I just recently found the best turtleneck sweater (plus, it was on sale). I wore it to dinner Sunday night, all day whilst road tripping up to Vermont, and then once again to dinner. Urban Outfitters always pulls out some great pieces (like these sweats which I'm wearing). Stay tuned for a proper outfit post, but until then enjoy some Instagrams.

Smart Girls Summit

Last Wednesday & Thursday, I woke up at the crack of dawn and ventured into my favorite city for the Smart Girls Summit. In a sea of business suits on Metro-North, there was little me clad in this getup and then this one. It was wonderful and inspiring to hear such smart woman (no pun intended) who've made a change in the world. The first day was filled with motivational panels and keynotes with woman like Shiza Shahid who is the powerhouse behind the Malala Fund. Every person in the room was awestruck and moved by everything that Shiza said. Thursday was just as amazing with great panels, especially the blogging focused featuring Lauren from rewardStyle, Mackenzie, Carly, and Molly.

Along with inspiring panels and speakers, I also met plenty of you guys, and finally matched faces to social media handles- its come to that, folks! I spent free  time with some of my favorite girls, Frannie, Caroline, Chloe, plus some new mates- Sammy, Morgane, and Bella.

After the conference ending up Thursday, Morgane, Bella, and I walked around The Shops at Columbus Circle, and then plopped our tired selves in Central Park- with ice cream in hand, no less. The three of us instantly bonded, and to say the least they are just such cool chicks. Already exhausted, dinner at The Smith with Carin, Fran, Sammy, and Chloe perked me up thanks to endless laughter and plenty of time crammed into the photo booth.

I am so thankful to have these amazing friends in my life. As cliche as it may sound, never in a million years would I think that I would be friends I met over the internet. Oh, how the world works in a crazy way.

Summer Vibes

*all from Instagram- @sailingseastyle

My apologies for having a majority of my Insta-snaps of the ocean.

It's official, I have summer fever.
Time for tan legs, sunsets, travels, and blistered hands (my best regards, Laser sailing).

And..... cue the Beach Boys.

Snap Snap | Insta-Tips

Hellooo weekend. My apologies for the lack of posting this week- one word: finals. Instead of discussing my studies, let's talk about the biggest procrastinator machine of all- Instagram. You've heard of it, right? Good.

I am guilty of aimlessly scrolling through my feed and stalking some of my favorite accounts (head to the bottom of the page to check those out). Never the less, I've spent my fair share of time playing around (ehem... wasting time) with all things Insta related, so here are my favorite pictures and some of my tips and tricks for each. 'Gram yourself out.

Sea | Sky | Land

If you can tell from my instagram bio, I am quite the sunset lover. I think the only reason is because I never see the sunrise... gotta get those zzzz. My biggest tip for sunsets is to aim up for less land in the picture. But, for landscapes (beach, water, etc.) try to have equal balance.

Styled Photos

Aha, the most famous picture that you'll find on any fashion-related account. You got me, guilty as charge. Throw a few stylish things together and snap away. Because anyone has a desk "cluttered" with makeup and magazines....

#fromwhereistand

My personal favorite outfit related pic is hashtag-fromwhereistand. The easiest way to show off your outfit without any help from another person. I love these because it gives a peek into outfits that never make the blog. Classic behind the scenes shot, if you ask me.

Details

Along with a #fromwhereistand picture, detail shots are great for showing of any accessories or specific parts of your look. And the infamous back shot is a favorite of mine, especially since the majority of the tops I wear have unique backs.

Favorites

@travelandleisure: travel the world from your phone and I always find amazing hotels from here.
@natgeo: wanderlust to the extreme.
@stripesandpeonies: Gracey's account is full of flowers and simple images.
@tuulavintage: Jessica's instagram was one of the first I followed and is still a favorite of mine.
@worldofwanderlust- more travel- hey, I like to go around the world on study breaks.
@popcosmo- Two words: funny puns.

Hope you enjoyed this post- decided to mix it up. Leave your thoughts below and be sure to follow along my snaps at @sailingseastyle.

Anguilla Photo Diary | Part 2

If it's not obvious by now, my favorite time of the day is the sunset. No matter where I am- whether it traveling or home, I love watching the sun fade away into the horizon. It's a little part of the day to reflect as vivid colors adorn the sky before nightfall. Because, I will never be a morning person (hey, girl needs her sleep), the sunrise is out of the option. But, I am not complaining. Especially since I've seen some pretty beautiful sunsets- I've documented my fair share of them via Instagram (1,2,3,4,5).
To be honest, one of the best sunsets I've ever seen was on an airplane; let me tell you, it was quite the view.

I'm highly considering writing a book about the best sunsets around the world.... Anguilla would near the top of that list, don't you agree? Until then, I'm dealing with today's rainy weather.

Le sigh, we will never win when it comes to the lovely Mother Nature.
Have a great weekend. x

Sailing in Florida | Insta-Snaps

waiting for wind // one of the best sunsets ever // post-storm skies // current essentials- coconut water & frends headphones // plane window view of sunny Florida // after sailing view // travel days (obsessed with kind bars) // clear sunset // favorite printed pants via Joe's Jeans

As most of you know, I was in Clearwater Beach, Florida for a sailing regatta. Despite not ideal sailing conditions (killer fog and no wind), it was very nice to escape the cold and welcome some much needed sunshine. I also could not wait to get back on my Laser after this long winter. As always, here is a recap of my quick trip. There was some breathtaking sunsets each night even after afternoon storms- the second photo is my favorite. Along with my travel essentials- which include Frends headphones, Zico coconut water (the chocolate flavor is amazing), and Kind bars. If you aren't following me on Instagram- it's @sailingseastyle. I recently hit 1,000 followers; thank you for all your awesome support, it means the world to me!

Insta Snaps

Instagram is my number one choice of social media. I spend way too much time scrolling through pictures and insta-stalking my favorite accounts. Here is a quick round up of snaps from this past week. I met up with my blogger bud Gracey and we had a little bit of fun at Bergdorf Goodman. Also included are two outfit snaps from traveling and my current favorite jeans (later this week on the blog). Instagram isn't complete without selfies and pictures of New York City. Follow me at @sailingseastyle. Have a great Monday.
