Remix

Wearing: Asos button down, Topshop sweater, Asos jeans (distressed by me),
Somewhere Sunday sunglasses via Alekka, River Island loafers (old)

After a winter full of wearing turtlenecks and jeans on repeat, I began to grow tiresome of my established said uniform. I like to think it as a sartorial version of cabin fever? As the core pieces don't exactly change, little things like layering a collared shirt underneath or ditching the boots once makes somewhat of a difference.

My preferred option of spicing up threads, is not threads itself, but sunglasses. If the suns out- scratch that- when it's not raining, you bet a bottom dollar that you'll find sunglasses glued to my face. If I'm not wearing my trusty aviators (or my sailing shades via Kaenon), I will be in mirrored frames. Despite, having other mirrored aviators, these futuristic glasses take the cake. (plus, Back to the Future slash mad scientist vibes are real).

Fur x Cableknit

I've always found fur a little over the top or too dramatic for my own style. But, maybe it's from my growing liking in animal print that I've been drawn to the old hollywood feel of (faux) fur as of late.

Alas, I happen not to be attending any glamorous parties in the near future (aren't you shocked??), so a fur jacket will not be paired with a ball gown. Instead it acts as a little bam-boom to my daily wardrobe of denim, knits... I would say sneakers, but booties have been taking over in the shoe department.

On another note, I hope you had a very merry Christmas! Enjoy your holidays, and perhaps depart the interwebz for a bit? We all could use a little r&r.

Coven Mood

Wearing: Asos top, Chanel skirt, Zara jacket, Chanel ballet flats, Topshop choker

Some serious coven moods today.
At least, I'm already taking notes from Lacoste, and including some racing stripes and a lightweight anorak thrown over flowing fabrics. I think we all can agree I'm acing Runway to Real Life 101.... or yacht party gone dark... jokes, jokes.

The Road

Yesterday, I did the task that summer lovers despise- sorting away the sandals, beach attire, and the general pieces that file under "summer". For me, a sweater fanatic, it was a joyous moment as my knits and lightweight jackets are now proudly hanging on my clothing rack. *Sigh*, I love the changing of the seasons.

A few weeks ago, I was trying to get as much wear in my favorite Topshop slides- which, may I add, saved my poor feet this summer- and those important transition pieces that save your a** during those days that the weather is feeling quite bipolar. So without further ado, join me on the road of odd layering and beautiful fall days ahead.

Knit Worth

Folks, it's time that I let you in the a little secret of mine. J.Crew mens is sweater heaven. Time to close Net-A-Porter, and forget all about those ACNE Studios and Stella $700 knits- first, le sigh. I have fallen hard into my pile of oversized cotton crewnecks or even better, a fisherman sweater that is, I repeat, not on back order. Yep, throwing some sarcastic eye-rolling to you, L.L. Bean.

If you've been keeping up with me, like how you keep up with binge-watching on Netflix... er... weekend in a nutshell... you'd remember this post mentioning the comeback of sweaters in my wardrobe. I can gladly say, whilst I am sweater, that this comeback is real. So fishermankniting good.

The perks of sweaters doesn't end at cozy and warm. The transitional ability is pretty impressive, might I add. Cotton? My best friend 365 days, snow to sand, sleep to class, the list goes on. As much as I love a cashmere sweater, this cableknit is winning my heart right now.

Now, it's Friday (well, duh). So, what better to do than treat yo'self? Perhaps a trip to that men's sweater section? Nothing less for the best.

Code Red

There has been many red undertones in my sartorial game as of late. Breaking the myth of redheads cannot wear the fiery shade, but in my case I prefer a more muted terra cotta kinda red. Case in point: this Lou & Grey skirt. Picked up in this washed out red shade and a classic black, it is much welcomed change from silky separates or a pair of denim shorties. Plus it is an ode to the Western inspired front of fashion when paired with a denim button down and booties. Or if you're like yours truly, stripes are the way to go.... upping your patriotic game is a big fat check in my book.

Time to call for a code red.

Grove Street

In between proper laughs and shooting photos, Gracey, Chloe, and I walked around the always charming West Village. We ventured deep within the village to my favorite street, Grove. The quaint street is lined with ivy covered townhouses (when can I move in?), and has this hidden treasure of a courtyard which you'd never think was in New York City. On the topic of a treasure, when I was in Bergdorf Goodman a few weeks ago, I scored this Hedi Slimane validated bag 50% off- great finds in a great city.

Girly-isms

Wearing: Zara blouse (similar), Reformation skirt, Topshop slides

Taking a break from my everyday array of sailing gear or outfits like this, to sport a skirt and a beloved off the shoulder blouse

It was time for a quick visit to my favorite, as I like to call them: girly-isms.

Never the less, I must stay true to my roots of a disheveled do (no pun intended) and slides whilst donning these said girly-isms. Once in awhile, a well done surprise of attire is crucial to keep things spicy. But don't worry it doesn't stick around too long. And with that... off to sailing I go clad in my boyish duds of all. Do you you dig little ladylike tricksters or are you a kicks kinda gal like yours truly?
