Third Beach

Sharing my last bit of my trip up to Newport last weekend. I haven't been to Third Beach in roughly 8  years, hence I've forgotten how incredible the beach is.

Before the Northeast turned into a massive icicle... uh, yesterday, I was wearing this denim jacket and fisherman knit combination everyday. Taking a chance here, and hoping I'll still wear it as a layering piece under my beloved Barbour (aka the only coat I wear)

Lighthouse

“I really don't know why it is that all of us are so committed to the sea, except I think it's because in addition to the fact that the sea changes, and the light changes, and ships change, it's because we all came from the sea. And it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean, and, therefore, we have salt in our blood, in our sweat, in our tears. We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea - whether it is to sail or to watch it - we are going back from whence we came."- JFK

Any time I'm visiting Rhode Island, I always try to make it to the lighthouse at Castle Hill Inn. Tucked away on a rocky point- cue the cliche- it's the perfect escape. Perched on the rocky edge whilst watching fisherman and the boats break through the waters before they head out to the Atlantic brought a moment of serendipity to my day. The ocean has this ability to make you feel so small, but is incredibly comforting as well.

Last weekend was no different and as always, my hair was a windy mess and I was dressed like a Acne Studios 90s kid.

It's true: some things never change.

Good Jeans

Remember last weekend, how I lived in two pair of jeans? Oh yes, it's time to meet the latest addition of the genes jeans pool. Created from the brains at James Jeans, they're yoga-approved and stretchy enough to give the feeling of sweatpants without the indolence factor of my preferred Saturday night duds.

Along with a great pair of new jeans to spruce up my attire, I am still sporting my summertime pullover of choice. As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...  To top it all off, Anine Bing booties snagged on sale a whilst back and, after several bumps in the road of a broken zipper and a 1/2 size too small, they are finally being worn. Hurrah!

Psht. Time for the weekend.

Refresh

Asos coat, J.Crew beanie, James Jeans, Loeffler Randall bag (old, this season's version),
Equipment blouse, Bauble Bar and Catbird rings

With Spring break on its way it almost feels as if days are much busier and the endless pile of work is becoming bigger. I am so excited to be heading to Rhode Island tomorrow- nothing a little salty air can't fix! Keeping today's post short and sweet, I would just like to remind you all to sometimes stop whatever you are doing and take a moment to refresh. Enjoy you day, friends!

"If living life means I'm crazy, well I'd rather be insane."

One more thing- I tried out a new software for these pictures. I have mixed feelings on them and I sort of like Lightroom more . But, as always do share what you are thinking. x

Winter Beach

Irish knit, Mango coat, James Jeans, Converse, DKNY tights (worn under jeans),

On Sunday morning, we ventured out quite early to the beach. I have explained my love for beaches during the Winter and this was a perfect example of why I love it. Bundled up in thick knits and warm layers, we escaped into a less snowy winter. The water was eerily still and the sun warmed our faces. Sometimes my friends, winter isn't so bad after all.

Neutral Field

My style is evolving and it's heading into a more minimalistic approach. Even though I love color (trust me I do), neutrals are key bases of a great wardrobe. Some of these great pieces are on sale like this Stella sweater - amazing deal and I can't imagine how cozy it is. My everyday jewelry is much more simple as well- a mix of dainty bracelets and rings. Sloane Ranger sent me a few bracelets (like this one) to mix into my everyday stack. They are offering 15% off all jewelry to my readers with the code SAILINGSEA15 until the 20th of January. Shop the post below:

Navy & Black Basics

Isabel Marant x HM blazer | Brandy Melville t-shirt | James jeans
| Tieks ballet flats c/o | Rebecca Minkoff bag (similar)

Recently, I've mentioned how I am wearing a lot of black and this is a perfect example. I split up the dark color with some navy- who says the two don't go together?! I kept the main items black but ballet flats (Tieks are the best) and a t-shirt break up the outfit. This is also a perfect outfit for holiday traveling. Would you like a post on traveling style? Please share below.

Menswear Vibe

Mango coat - James jeans (last worn here) - Brandy Melville sweater - Shoemint loafers (old)

Happy Monday! I've mentioned before how much I love an oversized, menswear inspired coat. I've been shopping from Mango recently and noticed how they have insanely cool coats. I pretty much wore this one all weekend pairing it with simple separates. I also have my eye on this plaid one from Topshop. Shop some great coats below:

Spooked

Zara turtleneck // Charlie Jade blazer // James Jeans jeans
// Alice and Olivia heels // Me Char clutch c/o

Due to tomorrow's spooky holiday, I thought I wore dress a little more in the spirit. I am not a massive fan of the holiday, instead I will be spending the day sailing and watching Hocus Pocus: this girl doesn't do scary movies. On another note, I've been wearing more black and edgier clothes than normal, but I'm kinda loving it. I would love to know if are a little more in the spirit than I am- share below!

By The Sea

This became a regular outfit especially this past weekend. A cozy flannel is made chic with sleek jeans and boots. I am also sorry for the overload on these boots... I've been wearing them non-stop! Check the blog later today for the rest of my snaps from the weekend (hint, hint, double post!) I am off to D.C. tomorrow for a couple of days. I will be packing easy pieces that can be worn from day to night. Shop below for what I'll be packing:
