Sea Lace

Wearing: Dress from St.Barths (last worn here, similar), Topshop slides, Ray Ban shades

This past weekend, I was up in good 'ole Rhode Island for the Brown Sailing Parent Regatta. My brother, Reid and I did quite well, I must say.

I can never not stop by Ocean Drive when I'm up in Newport. One of my favorite spots in New England- the salty air and blue waters are intoxicating. I slipped on my favorite lace slip dress- no pun intended- yesterday before heading back to Connecticut. Along with my favorite slides and shades, I was channeling the 90s and Sound of Music- quite the odd pairing. Yesterday reminded me on how much I love sweet New England. Everything from the ocean, Americana vibes and the beauty of nature - nothing tops it especially during the warmer months. Cheers your Monday drink to that.

Rational Shopping

All rational thinking goes out the window when it comes to online shopping. Somehow, I convince myself that it's perfectly justifiable to buy another pair of sneakers or leather jacket (err... it's on sale!) with summer around the corner. Never less, some of these items are essential to every girl's wardrobe; denim shorts, perhaps?

Push aside the thought of practicality, all these items are at the top of my list. Not that I need anymore shoes, but these sandals fit the bill for my feet- neutral and (almost) flat. Double check. Those paired with a striped top and shorts is my soon-to-be uniform.

 Rational shopping? That's right.

LBD + Short Hair

Asos Dress // Ray Ban Sunglasses // Rebecca Minkoff Sandals // Catbird Rings // Celine Bag // Michael Kors Watch // J.Crew Belt (old)

On Friday, I did something I never thought I would do- cut my hair into a lob- long bob. To be honest, I didn't mean to cut it this short. I only wanted about an inch off and my hairstylist (who was from Europe) thought I meant 4 inches. Needless to say, I like the length and it's fun to play around with my short(er) hair! (Some hair tutorials videos are in the future)

With my new hairstyle, I feel that I can experiment and try out different outfits and looks. For example, I never wear black- I own 4 black items of clothing- but I recently purchased this simple dress from Asos and I'm kinda digging it.

From the Weekend

Urban Oufitters Blazer (old) // Current/Elliott Jeans // Splendid Tee // Loeffler Randall Bag // Jack Rodger Sandals // Bauble Bar and Madewell Rings // Ray Ban Sunglasses

It's quite funny how sometimes you just don't wear certain pieces of clothes. This month, I haven't been wearing jeans a ton. Except this past weekend, it was pretty much all I wore. On Saturday, I went for a simple look that I love to wear; jeans, tee, and blazer. There are so many different styles that these items come in (edgy,chic,classic...). For me, I tend to stay in the more classic/chic range. A summery color palette was necessary, along with  some of my favorite neutral accessories. I wore a bright Splendid tee, that is insanely soft! Distressed jeans add instant edge to any look.  I topped the look with a crisp, white blazer to make the weekend look more streamlined. The blazer was such a good deal and I definitely need to get more wear out of it! See below for more easy jeans/tee/blazer picks!

Pink Pants

J.Crew Pants // Three Dots T-Shirt c/o // Pour La Victoire Heels (old, similar here and here
// Bauble Bar Bracelet // Ray-Ban Sunglasses

When I first purchased these pink pants from J.Crew, I was not sure how much I would like them. I thought they were going to be ill-fitting or look funny. Luckily, the fit was amazing. I love where they sit on my waist and how they are cropped at the ankle. Of course, I love the color too (neon obsessed)! I paired the pants with a more casual lace top which I've been wearing with everything from printed skirts to simple jeans.

Mint + Neon

Splendid Neon Baseball Tee  (also love this LNA option) // Asos Skirt // French Connection Shoes (last seen here) // Claire Viver Clutch // Ray-Ban Sunglasses // Hermes Bracelet // Bauble Bar Rings (old)

If you have been following my most recent outfit posts- see them all here- you will have seen my love for neon! During Spring, there is nothing I love more than bright, vibrant colors! I bought this shirt from Splendid in the depths of Winter, and cannot be more happy to finally be wearing it now! To mix it up, I paired it with a mint circle skirt. I love the freshness of mint and neon! Again, I'm wearing my favorite shoes from French Connection- they have metallic and lucite!!

***special thanks to my amazing friend Kathryn for taking my photos***

Tropical Snakeskin

Joe's Jeans The Skinny Jean // Urban Outfitters T-Shirt // Missoni Espadrilles (scored on Gilt!)
// Ray-Ban Sunglasses // Clare Viver Clutch (similar) // Bracelets: Bauble Bar // Calypso St.Barth (old)

I have a thing for printed jeans.  These pair from Joe's Jeans are so unique. The print is almost like snakeskin, but at the same time it has the effect of  tie-dye. They are also super flattering which is important with prints. A pair can look amazing on someone tall but on someone more petite, the print can overwhelm them. The fit is perfect, and they are on trend but not too much. Joe's Jeans also come in so many different prints! You also may have noticed, another Clare Viver bag! Let me tell you, I am obsessed ! For someone who doesn't carry around tons of stuff, they are ideal. I love the striped ones, seen here and here. But, this white snakeskin one is super chic. I'll be adding a million more printed pants into my closet for Spring. Look below to see some more printed pairs!

Neon Florals

Eight Sixty Dress- in love with this one // Free People Jacket // Ray-Ban Sunglasses
// Tieks Ballet Flats c/o // Michael Kors Watch // BaubleBar Jewels

Yesterday was the first real dose of Spring we have had! The funny part, right after a snow storm. The weather called for bright colors and a fun print, thus I whipped out this dress. After seeing this dress on Piperlime, I knew it was meant for me. Anything neon and printed is always welcomed into my closet! On top, I wore another one of my new favorites! This faux leather Free People Jacket. I have been on the hunt for a light leather jacket, and I died when I saw this one! The price was ideal and it fits perfectly! Lastly, I wore my third love, ballet flats from Tieks! They are ridiculously comfy and the colors are fantastic! I will be definitely buying more for Spring.

Keep on Sailing,
Sloane

Flowers, and Fur

I recently picked up these Madewell Boots , and I just love them! The color is perfect and they are so comfortable. The best part is that they go with everything! I just love how they look with the crisp jeans, and layers on top!
