Remix

Wearing: Asos button down, Topshop sweater, Asos jeans (distressed by me),
Somewhere Sunday sunglasses via Alekka, River Island loafers (old)

After a winter full of wearing turtlenecks and jeans on repeat, I began to grow tiresome of my established said uniform. I like to think it as a sartorial version of cabin fever? As the core pieces don't exactly change, little things like layering a collared shirt underneath or ditching the boots once makes somewhat of a difference.

My preferred option of spicing up threads, is not threads itself, but sunglasses. If the suns out- scratch that- when it's not raining, you bet a bottom dollar that you'll find sunglasses glued to my face. If I'm not wearing my trusty aviators (or my sailing shades via Kaenon), I will be in mirrored frames. Despite, having other mirrored aviators, these futuristic glasses take the cake. (plus, Back to the Future slash mad scientist vibes are real).

Fringe x Fringe

It has been over a week without an outfit post. Sort of defeats the whole purpose of personal style... Ergh, between traveling and the biggest culprit of it all, Mother-beep-Nature, I've haven't had time to shoot new content until this past weekend. Well, that's half true. Today's look was actually shot before heading down south, but a few technical related problems arose, which delayed said post.

In summary, the internet is annoying.

Following the it's so nice, say it twice mantra when it comes to this bucket bag via Alekka. My ode to the 70s is still going strong with an awaited return to middle-parted hair which may I add, first was born at the ripe age of seven. Then, I got bangs. Let us save my adolescence hair debacles for another time.

This bag has a cowboy-in-the-city attitude that gives an updated take on the classic bucket bag.
The end result? Straight to the top of my wishlist.

Clear Eyes

Sorry for being missing-in-action (otherwise sailing) this past week. It's been a long one. To break it down; four new bruises, maybe a broken finger, blonder hair, interesting tan lines, seven foot waves, many boats, and one regatta.

That's Laser sailing for you. I have no idea what motivates me to work through waves that break over my head or when my quads are on fire from hiking upwind, but that little spark inside me (wherever the hell it is!) tells me to work harder and better. Despite a sore body and a towering stack of overdue homework, I'm ready to fly home after an eye-opening week on the water.

A change in the tides here (pun fully intended).... This wrap waist playsuit from Zara is the best excuse of dressing up. Fellow black cats rejoice!

One more thing.

The ideal way to sum up this week is quoting my favorite (errr.. fictional) sports team. the Dillion Panthers.

Work it Out

I've you been following me on the Insta-land or its chatty cousin, Twitter, you've seen that I've stepped up my fitness game. To spread my knowledge when it comes to workin' that body, why not head to the age old Interweb?

I tend to workout 5-6 times a week for an 1-1 1/2 hour (riveting, right?). To be honest, my new found "gym-bunniesness" lifestyle is only a little over a month old, but I've fallen hard. Plus, Laser Midwinters regatta- the reason I'm down South at the moment- is a big enough reason to get my sorry ass into shape. Three times per week, I focus on cardio- my preference, you may be wondering? I run intervals on the treadmill for 20 mins, then row 2000-5000 meters on the rowing machine. Following that, I either do the stairmaster for 20 mins or an ab workout. The other days? I use the Nike Training app (hashtag there's an app for that). or the Kayla Itsines workout plan, which oh boy, my wobbly walking the day after is proof that those workouts, for the matter of the fact, work.

As my self proclaimed title of gym rat/gym bunny/fitness aficionado/you get my point, looking the part is another half of it. Oh c'mon, don't deny the fact that those old t-shirts and worn in shorts don't exactly motivate you to run a mile a minute. Plus, with athletic gear ranging from Net-A-Porter to the originals like Nike (these are my favorite sneaks), Lululemon, and Adidas, workout apparel is a crucial part of one's wardrobe now a days.

Quoting my new home away from home (Equinox gym), it's not fitness, it's life.

Denim Street

Like every other freezing soul in the Northern Hemisphere, I'm looking forward to Spring- which seems light years on light years away. Last Spring, I purchased these jeans from high street royalty, Queen Z(ara). From wear and tear (and trips n splits here and there), the holes have grown three sizes.  These pair are my usual weekend culprit. But what else is new?  Paul Simon had the right idea about jeans way back when... "holes in the knees of my jeans".

Lost?

Snakeskin Slits

Wearing: Evil Twin pants, Urban Outfitters sweater (last worn here),
Pour La Victoire heels (old, similar here), Hermes bracelet (check out the Real Real!), Chanel bag

Ripped jeans' good girl sister has surfaced. Clean cut slits at the knees calls for onlookers double-checking to see if you purposely sliced your jeans or nah, but hey all is good. Continuing with the clean-cut momentum with the help black pointy toes, and a gray knit.

The calendar might say Monday, but I'm still in a weekend mindset and so is my wardrobe. During January, my efforts of dressing are lowered to kitten heel level, so you can only imagine that I've created a uniform for winter. Similar to last year's go to, but a little more diverse in that.

Turtleneck sweaters, black jeans, and boots.

But after wearing the same variation of a look for over a month, it is nice to shake things up a little that department. That's where textures come to play. Leather legs, denim jacket, suede shoes (not the most practical with snow in the picture) become the magic potion when in an all-black rut.

So, if next Monday morning (or tomorrow), you happen to face the hardships of the forever lingering question "what to wear", make sure you file away this post.
