Superhero, Superpowers

As I've been able to tame my sneaker addiction down, we have another problem (... Houston). Leather. The equation has turned into 4 jackets, 3 pairs of shorts, 2 skirts, 3 tops and now 2 pairs leggings- and this dress is soon to be in transit.

I can't help myself.

As I will tell my support group- AKA the world wide web- it has come to the point where leather (or "pleather" in this case), has replaced my tried & true denim.

On Monday, I presented you with the tamer duds of the two- the martial of choice is only on the front- which is my suggestion if you only want to dip a toe in and not go full-on dominatrix. These shiny black pair have the ability to take an outfit from a one to a ten, plus they are leggings. When it comes to leather, I have two guidelines. 1) It should get better with age. 2) When you slip those pants on (or jacket), it makes you feel like a bada$$.

If that is not a superhero piece, then I'm beat.

(Sidenote: I've worn this stripe tee in three posts in one week.... another superhero piece)

Camel Affair

Wearing: Zara coat, T by Alexander Wang- sold out, similar (Friday's look), Club Monaco leggings (from last year, but just bought these), Stan Smith sneakers, Jules Smith choker (favorite piece)

Shh!! I'm cheating on gray with camel. Cue a color war, and I'm going neutral.

I couldn't help myself with the puns, guyysss...

Putting my hysterically funny self aside, this outfit is one of the two assembles I tend to wear the most. Well, I wouldn't necessarily count my XL sweatshirt and sailing sweats a "fashion forward" assemble, but just role with me here. The awkward limbo period between seasons (side note: it was snowing yesterday, hi winter) calls for formulaic dressing of t-shirts and basics; hence here.

// And while I have your undying attention, holiday shopping? //

Contrast

A.L.C. stripes (similar), Zara knit, Club Monaco leather leggings- on sale, Asos slip ons (similar)

If you ever look at a compelling outfit there is always some contrast. The outfit is full of different elements that seemingly work together. The pairing of these separates was quite spontaneous. And no surprise, they are all favorites in my wardrobe. I didn't notice until writing this post the contrast between each item from heavy knit to sleek leather and the mixing of prints. Having variation in my outfits is what I find keeps them interesting (I hope so at least!) and when it happens accidentally it is even better. Have a great weekend. x
