Weekend by the water

To begin a season full of weekend trips in New England, Saturday was spent in the quaint beach town  of Niantic, CT. Nothing makes a day better than fish n chips, college sailing, and making a muck on the beach. Excluding dealing with salt sprayed denim and sandy feet... you win some, you lose some, eh?

Keeping today's post short because it's my last day of school and the start of summer- a celebratory dance is in order  (five-six-seven-eight) . I have a fun weekend full of festivities so follow along on you guessed it- Instagram. This is a little late on my part, but thank you so much for 2000 followers- you guys are incredible! Let's get back to the weekend. In a perfect little world, I would be sporting this sporty get up, perhaps switching out the trousers for a pair of shorts. On one last note, guess what this girl just purchased... overalls. It's about to get funky.

Formulaic

As it's completely  obnoxiously obvious by now, stripes are my favorite print to wear. A stripe dress can become your best friend when it comes to weekend dressing. Having it be a classic item, it can be challenging to mix it up and put your own personal spin. I tend to go with an overall blue and white palette (with a pop of red... 'Murica). A dark wash chambray cinches the waist and adds texture which is most definitely a win-win. Tousled hair and minimal makeup finish of the formula for weekend dressing.

A few other combinations I love for a stripe number:

 denim vest + slip on sneaks

cinched waist + open trench + hi-tops

white blazer + bandanna style scarf + d'orsay flats

Craving White

On Tuesday, I was wearing pastels and today I'm talking about white. If it is not obvious by now, I am sick of Winter. I've been embracing winter white as much I can but in all honesty, I really would like warmer weather. I've linked below some of my favorite white separates in hopes that I'm not the only one in need of a little Spring. Yesterday marked the first day of fall. It's is my favorite season hands down- this year, it will be a super busy one. My birthday, events, several trips are some of what this season holds ahead for me. I hope you enjoyed yesterday's amazing weather and had a great weekend. Now we face the week...

This was kind of a spur of the moment outfit for me. I tend to never wear a super bold outfit, but when something works, it works! The causal baseball tee dressed down the skirt creating a perfect weekend look with minimal jewelry and simple sandals. What do you think?
