At First Sight

#currentlytrending: An affinity for an at the knee or below.

After a little late night shopping at the great z to a-r-a, this black mesh skirt showed up at my doorstep. To my luck, it was  love at first sight, but hey, we all can't win at life... it was a size too big. Don't get used to this skirt thing though, my poor pale legs have already resorted to fleece lined tights and worn in denim.

As I was going for a high waisted skirt to amp up my woolly knits and bring a little something something into my wardrobe... le sigh, life is full of twist and turns.  In a result, I ended up with a longer hemline and a love at first sight with another one of the Z's best- this sweater.

Talk about a match made in retail heaven.

On another random note, sporting a sartorial color scheme of red and black made me think of vampires. Yes, your waking (or sleepy) eyes read that correctly. Halloween has come and past, and and the holidays are upon us, yet the classic color combination with forever be tied with gothic vampires.

Bless my soul.

Despite my vampire color connections and sleep-deprived, movie-watching eyes (that made an appearance here), this outfit is filed under: wear more often.

Maybe late night shopping is a good thing.... (ha!)

Circle Shades

The round eyewear that became known thanks to the plethora of 60s hippies and one Beatle. Normally not a fan of futuristic fashion that replicates strong Zeon: Girl of the 21st Century vibes, but it is certainly a refreshing change from classic aviators.

I'm not the first to admit that I'd rather not be bug eyed when the sun is shining, yet something about the modern shades, especially when paired with classics- takes norm core to the next planet (see what I did there?)  As for someone who is immensely inspired by the 60s, a simple lens might be more everyday where for me compared to your space age pick.

Never the less, maybe I've come to be all about the Bug's Life meets E.T. for my eyewear. Or maybe I just have watched way too many movies...

Gray Area

Despite camel being this season's new black, I've happened to find a place in my sartorial heart for every shade of gray under the sun. So in case you want to find my whereabouts, I'll be gallivanting around in this über oversized knit which happens to be in one of the many shades of gray, or in perhaps one of my latest rediscoveries; this 90s sweatshirt classic. Complete with a matching turtleneck worn under, of course. And just to spare you with the absurd amount of gray puns, I'll refrain myself from being a walking cliche today.

Happy Girl

A.L.C. skirt (last worn here) | Crewcuts blazer | Asos t-shirt | Bauble Bar x BEE necklace
| Sam Edelman loafers- 50% off! | Ray-Ban sunglasses

Normally, I don't gravitate towards necklaces. It only happens when I find one I love- like this Bauble Bar one. A white tee works as the perfect backdrop for the cheeky necklace. A flippy skirt and blazer gives the look a preppy schoolgirl vibe. But messy locks and keeping everything else simple and cool balances out the outfit. Add black tights, moto boots and an overcoat to rock the outfit into the colder months.

Camel Coat

I'm in a little bit of a coat phase. I keep seeing more coats that I like and I keep convincing myself that I need (want) them. I absolutely love a great camel coat. Some people argue that they are just a trend, but I find them timeless and classic. They can be thrown over distressed jeans and a white t-shirt and look effortless. Plus, you will be rocking that whole French girl chic/ I'm trying but not really look. Of course you can splurge a coat too. But, due to my growing coat collection, Zara is working just as well for me.

Longer Layers

Calypso St.Barth tunic (old) // Ralph Lauren sweater- borrowed // Stuart Weitzman boots

The November chill has officially arrived in the Northeast. I'm wearing thicker socks and warmer layers these days. Even though I've lived in New England my whole life the first cold days of the Fall/Winter season always get to me. This Calypso St.Barth tunic was one of my favorite pieces all last year. The festive print can be dressed up with great heels and black tights and can be worn casually like above.

Menswear Vibe

Mango coat - James jeans (last worn here) - Brandy Melville sweater - Shoemint loafers (old)

Happy Monday! I've mentioned before how much I love an oversized, menswear inspired coat. I've been shopping from Mango recently and noticed how they have insanely cool coats. I pretty much wore this one all weekend pairing it with simple separates. I also have my eye on this plaid one from Topshop. Shop some great coats below:

Cool for School

Asos skirt // Brooks Brothers sweater (old) // Shoemint x Sea of Shoes heels // Bauble Bar rings

Happy Monday! Hope you had a fantasic weekend. This has been my uniform as of late- simple sweater, printed skirt, and cool shoes. The sweater I'm wearing is actually one of my brother's, but I think it went perfectly with the skirt. I'm on the hunt for some mock neck sweaters & shirts- let me know if you have any suggestions.

Fall Layers

Asos faux fur vest // Ralph Lauren sweater // J.Brand jeans (old) // Stuart Weitzman boots

This is the ideal fall outfit- mixed textures, cozy layers, and a warm color palette. I picked up this fur vest last week and couldn't wait to wear it over the weekend. The quality is amazing and the price is on point- I do suggest ordering one size up for layering. This hat from Rag & Bone is a new favorite of mine. It solved all those bad hair days and not to mention it's perfect for chilly mornings.

The Look // My Spin

I was on my tumblr and came across this "cool girl" fall ensemble. I was so inspired by the look and created my own spin on it. While I was writing this post, I spent a little bit on time on the Mango site (where the coat is from). I am pretty much in love with every piece. Especially this dresscoat and shoes. These Jeffery Campbell flats are amazing- they remind me of Miu Miu, but for a fraction of the price.

By The Sea

This became a regular outfit especially this past weekend. A cozy flannel is made chic with sleek jeans and boots. I am also sorry for the overload on these boots... I've been wearing them non-stop! Check the blog later today for the rest of my snaps from the weekend (hint, hint, double post!) I am off to D.C. tomorrow for a couple of days. I will be packing easy pieces that can be worn from day to night. Shop below for what I'll be packing:

Red & Windy

Photos by Reid Parker

To say the least, this weekend was very busy and fun. I was up in Rhode Island to visit my brother at Brown for family weekend. I also had a chance to stop by the HOCR in Boston where I saw Sarah at the KJP x BB booth. I also ran into Mackenzie, Carly and their friends Amy and Emily which was a nice surprise. Back in Newport, we stayed at the Castle Hill Inn. The view there is absolutely breathtaking from sunrise to sunset. While shooting these pictures yesterday morning it was breezy- hence my wild little bun. This easy sweater dress is a new favorite of mine. It's very versatile- I paired it with a fur vest and ankle boots for dinner the previous night.

New England is stunning in the Fall. The foliage surrounds you, the sun is shining and the water glistens. On the way home, we stopped in the tranquil town of Stonington, CT. We have been there before for lunch but it gets even more charming during the fall. The streets are lined with quaint New England homes with pumpkins in the front and fallen leaves scatter the sidewalks. It was a nice moment driving by with the windows down observing the classic beauty that Autumn brings.

Luxe Opposites

Madewell sweater // Zara pants // Chanel ballet flats // Clare Vivier clutch // Michael Kors watch
 // Madewell & Bauble Bar rings // KJP bracelet c/o //

In fashion, it's all about opposites- as quoted by Nina Garcia last week at an event I attended. It is so true; you can mix high and low, girly and edgy, the list goes on and on. In addition to mixing styles, I am a big fan of mixing textures and fabrics: chunky and silky or tweed and cotton for example. Here I'm showing a contrast of chunky- with the knit sweater- and sleek- with the coated jeans. Mixing opposites can make any look much more unique and eye-catching. Always remember that fashion is not meant to be taken too seriously- take risks and play around.
