Clearwater Beach, Florida

Hey, hey look who has a new video up and running! If you read my last Resolutions update (throwing some shade your way, if the answer to that was no), you would read my dropped hints about new video coming very soon. The delay? Me being lazy. Since finally purchasing a new GoPro- RIP to the one at the bottom of Long Island Sound- I've been determined to create more video content

It ain't no Oscar-winning creation, but I think we all can sleep just fine with that.

As promised, here are sunsets, sailing, and sharks.

Here you go, cyberland. The poor bunch that didn't make the Instagram cut from Florida. If you'd like to see what did make the cut, you know where to find me. I shudder at my self-promotion sometimes.

I liked the photos too much to let them go to die in my hectic camera roll of screenshots and 80 million takes of the same sunset photo.

Take a look at my other Instagram related posts- how I edit, perhaps? Or if you'd like a good laugh, hashtag behind the gram should suit your comical desires.

Weekend by the water

To begin a season full of weekend trips in New England, Saturday was spent in the quaint beach town  of Niantic, CT. Nothing makes a day better than fish n chips, college sailing, and making a muck on the beach. Excluding dealing with salt sprayed denim and sandy feet... you win some, you lose some, eh?

Monday funday, let's do it kids.

Hoist the Sails

I’m off once again! On Shelter Island for 48 hours of Lasers, then off to the middle of Long Island Sound for another overnight race. What else is new.... but don't you fret, you can still find me here with fresh content.

Aye-aye captain.

Where I Am...

[me- far left]

As I seem to be MIA from social media from the hours of 8-6 most days give or take, I can be found on the water either in a Laser or J105- take your pick. To say the least, I am probably racing as you are reading this. The forecast is 10-15 knots via my best friend, weather.com

See ya!

And in case you are wondering, this is my #ootd on the water.

Sailing in Florida | Insta-Snaps

waiting for wind // one of the best sunsets ever // post-storm skies // current essentials- coconut water & frends headphones // plane window view of sunny Florida // after sailing view // travel days (obsessed with kind bars) // clear sunset // favorite printed pants via Joe's Jeans

As most of you know, I was in Clearwater Beach, Florida for a sailing regatta. Despite not ideal sailing conditions (killer fog and no wind), it was very nice to escape the cold and welcome some much needed sunshine. I also could not wait to get back on my Laser after this long winter. As always, here is a recap of my quick trip. There was some breathtaking sunsets each night even after afternoon storms- the second photo is my favorite. Along with my travel essentials- which include Frends headphones, Zico coconut water (the chocolate flavor is amazing), and Kind bars. If you aren't following me on Instagram- it's @sailingseastyle. I recently hit 1,000 followers; thank you for all your awesome support, it means the world to me!

Today's post was supposed to be yesterday's outfit, but I was very sore from oral surgery . Instead, I'm sharing my latest inspiration via Instagram. To be honest, I am an Instagram junkie like some people are Pinterest addicted. I follow a ton of people, but above are some of my recent faves.  Be sure to follow me on Instagram, to keep up with my 'grams. I would love to know your favorite account!

Summer Sailing

me sailing this past weekend- on my IG @sailingseastyle
Happy Wednesday! One of my favorite parts of summer is the amazing sailing. Even though I sail all year round, summer sailing is the best. If you follow a little bit of the sport, you may know that the America's Cup boats just started racing this past weekend in San Francisco. If you live there, I definitely suggest watching these insanely crazy boats race. I was lucky to watch them on the water last summer in Newport, RI- it was quite a sight to see! For me, I'm going to stick to Laser sailing! (:

Hands down Summer is my favorite season ever. Sunny, fun-filled weekends are the best. This weekend in particular was a blast. I had brunch with friends, swam in the pool, sailed, ate yummy food, and so much more. I truly forgot how much I loved the season and everything that comes along with it! Take a look at some of the pics I snapped from my weekend! And be sure to follow me on Twitter for more! xxx

The Perfect Jacket

Happy Friday! This rainy, gloomy weather made me realize I don't own a good rain jacket. I have a heavy foul weather one for sailing, and a light trench coat for when it's drizzling, yet I don't own the perfect all-around jacket. Then I stumbled across this one on Henri Llyod. Henri Llyod is my go-to for all my sailing gear. Everything is well made and lasts forever. This jacket is perfect; it's stylish but still practical. Unlike most "army style" jackets, it has a hood and nautical details.

For All the Moms...

Mother's Day is right around the corner- it's on Sunday! For my family, Mother's Day has a double meaning! My mom's birthday is always within the special day! In fact, it's today! Happy Birthday Mom! Thank you for everything you have done, and all your support. I love you so much! For the double celebration, my parents and I are heading up to Newport, RI for my brother's college sailing regatta.

I have put together a selection of items for your special mom. A no-brainer gift is a yummy candles, or a lovely cookbook. GP's new one is amazing! I also love something a tad more personal- like this "mum" necklace or Zodiac flats. Hope you find the perfect gift for your mom, and I wish her a great day. xx

Miami Snapshots

Currently, I am sitting in front of a fireplace in Deer Valley, even though two days ago I was in sunny Miami for the Orange Bowl Youth Regatta. Below I've included some pictures of my stay in Miami. If you are planning a trip to Miami, here is a little more about what the EPIC Hotel offers:

EPIC Hotel- favorite hotel, located in Downtown Miami. The hotel has amazing views (see below), and yummy restaurants.
Area 31- Located at the EPIC Hotel. Offers breakfast, lunch, and dinner on the 16th floor.
Zuma- Located at the EPIC Hotel, and also has locations in London, Dubai, and Hong Kong. The food is modern Japanese cuisine that delivers an unique taste.
Exhale Spa at EPIC Hotel- The spa at the EPIC is fantastic. Spacious gym, and relaxing treatments.

Keep on Sailing,

It Girl: Paige Railey

Hello! This week' It Girl is very special to me. Paige is an professional sailor. She sails the Laser Radial, and went to the 2012 Oylpmic Games.. Paige has coached me several times, she is an amazing coach and such a funny girl! I am also so happy to have an interview, with this week's It Girl!

Sloane: When you are not sailing, what do you wear often? How do you describe the way you dress?

Paige:My mother always said to me that I am an athlete and I compete in a mans world, but it is very important to look like a lady. I wear dresses and heels a lot.  When I was younger I was allowed to wear shorts/pants 1 day a week. All of the other days I had to wear dresses or skirts.  I like retro looking clothes, but also the latest fashions. I wear it all, but I like to put a little bit of edge to my look. Right now, I am wearing a hippy looking dress, with a black blazer, black ankle boots, and cool jewelry.

S: When you are on the water, do you bring your style, on the water, if so how?

P:I wish I could! But I am stuck wearing my typical sailing gear. I will try to make it fun by having my nails painted and wearing some crazy color zinc.

S: How do you keen your skin protected on  and off the water?

P:I am very very very crazy about my skin. I have cancerous spots on my lips and have already had 2 cryosurgery procedures on them. You treat your skin completely different after a doctor tells you that you could lose your lips one day if you don't change your habits. When I am out in the sun I wear baby mineral cream. It is very thick and it leaves me looking like a geisha. BUT, it protects my skin from the damages of the sun.

For everyday use I wear a face cream that has SPF 25 in it.  So there's hydration and protection.

S: What influence's your style?

P: I love the website lookbook.nu and I read all of the fashion magazines. My mom has also had a major influence in my fashion. She was this really cool hippy chick back in the day and gives me all of her old clothes and jewelry.
