New England Pride

If you remember my old post Autumn Beach, I talk about how much I love being near the water in the colder months. Something about the calm water and hazy sky just makes me giddy. Because I’m a sailor perhaps I’m just naturally drawn to the water. My favorite places to go are on the water; Newport, St.Barts, La Rochelle, and quaint towns in New England. I am so lucky to be sailing in some of these amazing places too! My second favorite thing about these places is the amazing brands and lines that come out of them. St.Barts with it’s fashionable boutiques, La Rochelle with its quintessential French shops and brands, and New England with its classic and nautical style.

Most New England brands are made by hand in their home state. The brands are all about fine detailing and perfecting the simple New England style yet tweaking it to keep it authentic. Frank Clegg has mastered the art of timeless craftsmanship with their leather goods. I’ve been dying for a bag ever since my older brother, Reid, received one for his 19th birthday (yes, I do look to my brother for style inspiration-he has mastered classic style). Some of my favorite New England brands are Sail to Sable and The Ropes Maine. Sail to Sable is a line of stylish tunic dresses in a variety of prints and fabrics. The one I’m wearing below is corduroy giving it a little bit of a cozy/winter feel. I paired it with a leather belt to cinch the waist. Lastly, I think my love for The Ropes has been showed enough ! (See here and here) New England has both abiding brands that empathizes the original “prep of New England” look but also has up and coming designers that are willing to shake things up a little.

Currently Coveting

This Winter has been quite challenging with the tons of snow in the Northeast. I am very lucky to have escaped some of the snow. I cannot wait for Spring to come- it's my favorite season. I have started to cultivate items I'm coveting for the upcoming season. I had to throw in a few pieces that I can still wear in the snow with boots. For example these camo jeans, and this Alexander McQueen scarf- obsessed. Also, I love printed silky shorts that can also be worn with tights to keep your legs warm now and be worn with strappy sandals (like these gold J.Crew ones) in the Spring and Summer. Lastly, I added fun items such as a yummy candle and lucite decor for my bedroom. Also, I am guest posting about Spring trends for the next month over at GirlsLife!!

Anguilla Tidbits

I hope you had a wonderful week. Sorry for the delay of posts this week. I needed to catch up on my schoolwork, and I just came down with a virus-lucky me! All these pictures are a mix of outtakes and pretty moments that I captured from my trip. Be sure to read my two outfit posts from Anguilla here and here. Little Flowers

If you remember my Annie Griffin Collection giveaway awhile back, I mentioned how I will be wearing their tunics non-stop. Well, here I am! I love the floral embroidery at the top; it reminds me of smocked dresses I wore when I was younger.

Day one is Anguilla is complete! The weather is beyond wonderful! My family and I are staying at the Viceroy. The amazing resort was decorated by Kelly Wearstler. The modern and sleek decor inspired this look. I stepped out of my comfort zone a little bit with this skirt. The print with the cool colors is unique and different looking. Jet Set to Anguilla

I am so excited to be leaving for Anguilla tomorrow! My family and I are staying at the Viceroy on Meads Bay. The property is beyond beautiful, and is full of fantastic restaurants and great activities. I am so happy to escape the blistering cold! Below, I've included some items that have made it into my suitcase. I also packed tunics and sweaters from Sail to SableHIHO, and Annie Griffin! Stay tuned for outfit posts in the sunshine and exciting news regarding the amazing island. xx

Color Crush: Orange & Pink

I will admit it, I love color. I rarely wear all black, and if I am wearing neutrals there will be at least a pop of color. For Spring, I will be wearing the combination of orange and pink. These bright and cheery colors are surprisingly easy to wear for all skin tones.

You can add a small bit with a simple bracelet, or be bold in a dress or fun scarf! Leave a comment below if you will be wearing pink or orange this Spring.

Finding Nemo

Well, Nemo has come and gone. We have almost two feet of snow which brings along tons of shoveling, and loud sounds from the plow trucks. Other than that, it looks absolutely beautiful- a winter wonderland indeed! All the snow is making me more anxious for my vacation to Anguilla this week!!! Stay tuned for more on my trip! xx

Keeping Your Closet Perfect

One of my New Year Resolutions was to keep my closet organized. So far, it has been quite well. My closet is on the smaller side so maximizing the space is key. Here, I am sharing my favorite tips for keeping my closet perfectly organized. Also, stay tuned for a fun DIY in the near future (another one of my goals).

1- Hangers are my savior. I love the look of having all my hangers the same- these are my favorite.
2- If something is out of place, I feel as if my closet looks messy. Baskets and bins are great for keeping everything in a spot.
3- Shoes take over my tiny space. I created a shelving area for my shoes.
4- Spice up your closet with a colorful rug and fun trays. Gives it a boutique feel.
5- Every month, clean out your closet. I use the Poshmark app to sell my old clothes, shoes, accessories, etc.
