Elements of Tweed

Wearing: Three Floor dress, Pour La Victoire heels (old but, similarsimilar)

Photos by Lydia Hudgens

Just to clear up any confusion, these photos are from a few weeks ago. I have always been drawn to Three Floor dresses. They are all unique and have eye catching elements which makes them stand apart from other brands. This dress caught my eye because of the tweed detailing and open back. It makes a statement on its own so I kept it simple with tried and true heels. Shop more Three Floor dresses below.

Quality over Quantity

Often, I receive questions related to quality & quantity. Once Sailing the Sea of Style gained an active readership, I began to plan out more on the business side of blogging. Planning out more definitely has improved things around here. But because I was looking too much into the numbers of blogging, I noticed the quality of some posts slipping. When I was posting five-six times a week, I often found myself clicking "publish" just for the sake of having a new post. One of my resolutions is to grow STSS more and that means original, quality content all the time. I applaud bloggers who can whip out awesome daily posts- I simply don't have enough time to do that. My goal is to put 120% of my effort into each post and make sure my blog is a direct influence of who I am as well.

Now I'm not saying that I will be posting once a week. I love blogging too much to do that but definitely will not be posting daily. I am aiming for four posts each week full of quality content. I have some exciting things ahead so stay tuned! I try my best to always choose quality over quantity. Thank you for your endless support- it means a lot to me. I would love to hear your feedback from today's post- please share! x

St.Barth Breeze

Calypso St.Barth dress | Vince sandals | Bauble Bar ring
| Monica Vinader bracelet | Hermes bracelet | St.Barth bracelet

Rarely do I find a maxi dress that I love, but I am making an exception for this Calypso St.Barth number. Anytime I'm in a Calypso store, I always see their beautiful maxi dresses but I'm not gutsy enough to purchase one myself. I received this dress as a Christmas present and I'm so happy that I was able to wear it in St.Barth a few days later. The sea inspired colors are my favorite and the print gives of an easy but eclectic vibe. I paired it with my beloved Vince shoes which have gotten their fair share of wear and tear. Anytime I come back to St.Barth, I tend to rack up a stack of bracelets. I wear them to threads but they always remind me of my adventures on my favorite island. Tonight is New Year's Eve and I'm so excited for this evening's festivities. Here is to the last post of 2013. Thank you for following along with me. XO

Eden Rock

Indah dress | K.Jacques sandals | Asha by Adm necklace c/o
| Sloane Ranger bracelet c/o | Monica Vinader bracelet | Tiffany & Co. bracelet

I will never get sick of St.Jean beach and Eden Rock. I've may have lost count of the times I've visited but I discover something new every time  I'm there. Between the loud music coming from Nikki Beach and the waves crashing, the ambiance is the ideal mix. I wore a new purchase from a favorite of mine- Indah. I picked up this dress (or cover-up) for the trip and I'm happy I did. It can translate from a day at the beach or to night with simply a change of shoes. I love the interesting print and the cutouts on the sides and back. I've also been wearing necklaces much more. I tend to stick to daintier ones with personal meanings like the St.Barths pendant from Asha by Adm. Today, we will be heading to another favorite- Saline beach.

Beauty Favorites

I've received several emails about my makeup and skincare routine and I'd thought I would share some of my favorite products. I also use drugstore products- like this mascara and this cream shadow.  I keep my skincare routine very simple using this cleanser and other natural products. As for makeup, I wear this foundation and bronzer. But, I've starting using this blush and lip color. For my eyes, I love Lancome mascara. When I do wear eyeliner, I reach for YSL. I take my makeup off with these wipes. As for fragrance- I go for this and this depending on the seasons. On my nails, I usually wear Marshmallow by Essie. I just bought Deborah Lippmann polish and cannot wait to wear it in St.Barts.  Tan Towels are great for travel and Fresh scrub makes your skin baby soft. I would love to know what your favorite beauty products are- please share!

Navy & Black Basics

Isabel Marant x HM blazer | Brandy Melville t-shirt | James jeans
| Tieks ballet flats c/o | Rebecca Minkoff bag (similar)

Recently, I've mentioned how I am wearing a lot of black and this is a perfect example. I split up the dark color with some navy- who says the two don't go together?! I kept the main items black but ballet flats (Tieks are the best) and a t-shirt break up the outfit. This is also a perfect outfit for holiday traveling. Would you like a post on traveling style? Hello Winter | Insta Snaps

all photos via Instagram

Winter has officially arrived in New England. Playing in the snow will never get old and bundling up to just go to the car won't either. Yesterday, I went cross country skiing in the backyard- it was tons of fun but hard work! I can't wait to get back on the actual mountain shortly. Follow along on Instagram for snowy snaps. Leopard Love

Mara Hoffman dress | Charlie Jade blazer (old, similar here) | Stuart Weitzman boots

Photos by Caroline Granoff

Over the past couple of months, I've noticed how I have been wearing a lot more black. Last year, I rarely gravitated towards the color, but now it's a main player in my wardrobe. Because of the amount of black I've been wearing- mostly due to these boots- I found a no fail outfit (flippy dress, black boots, coat or blazer) that is perfect for when you want to look polished but don't want to put a lot of effort into your look.  It's simple but it can work for many different occasions and can be tweaked. I cannot wait to wear this Mara Hoffman dress in St.Barts over Christmas break. It's  perfect to wear all year long from sand to snow and snow to sand.

Rule Breaker

Isabel Marant x H&M blazer | Zara turtleneck | Rich and Skinny jeans | Shoemint x Sea of Shoes booties (last worn here) | Lora Piana scarf | Loeffler Randall bag (similar, similar)

Photos by Caroline Granoff

Happy December everyone- not to mention Cyber Monday. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving full of food, family, and cheer. There are a couple of items that I love to wear- turtlenecks, oversized scarfs, and white jeans. Today's post is quite the rule breaker- mixing navy and black and white jeans. But it's fashion and rules are meant to be broken. Winter white is refreshing to wear and it most definitely lightens up an outfit that has a darker palette.

Thankful

J.Crew mens shirt (30% off w/ HOLIDAY) | Lora Piana scarf | Vintage jeans | KJP bracelet c/o

I decided to keep today's post short and sweet. I am incredibly thankful for everything I have in my life. There are too many things I'm thankful for but here are a few: family, friends, education, freedom, traveling and of course, my readers! You guys keep this blog going and encourage me to work harder. To put it simply, thank you. Have a wonderful day and be sure to sneak in some shopping the next couple of days.

Navy Leather

Tory Burch leather jacket- borrowed // Vineyard Vines sweater // Zara pants (last worn here
// Stuart Weitzman boots // Clare Vivier clutch // Loren Hope bracelet

I am constantly wearing oversized sweaters (mostly borrowed from my brother).  The past weekend, I pretty much lived in this Vineyard Vines one. To polish up the causal look, I borrowed this Tory Burch leather jacket from my mom. It was a little big on me, but it worked because of the oversized knit underneath. A delicate peplum on the jacket adds a feminine touch to the overall look.

Have you checked out Sailor's Shop yet? It's full of holiday gifts and goodies!
