Packing List

If you didn't catch on from my hashtagTBT Insta post,  I'll be returning to my favorite island in a nine days. As I'm 100% finito with wearing turtlenecks and fleece up to my eyeballs, you can only imagine the bottled up excitement of purchasing clothes that happen to be filed under: sun and sand.

But the party doesn't stop there. I also have been keeping something else under wrap in addition to my upcoming trip. Next week, big changes will be coming to Sailing the Sea of Style. And by changes, I mean bigger than the big bang theory changes. Okay, okay, let's not get too carried away there. Even though things will be switched up, don't you worry, little 'ol me will still be typing away behind the screen.

Before you go and shop some sun ready pieces, I need some help from a few readers. Email me at SLOANE.C.K@GMAIL.COM to get the scoop of why I'm recruiting you.

Until then you know the drill: sun's out, guns out.

The Best of Lazy Dressing

Wearing: Brandy Melville tops (old), Zimmermann silk shorts- last worn here, Birkenstocks, Saint Laurent bag- smaller version, Wanderlust & Co. bracelets

Cue to the scene of a hot and humid day complete with sticky ice cream dripping down my hands and limbs. Last weekend, Alexandra recommended Van Leeuwen's in the East Village. Complete with a perfect people watching bench- you know you do it too-  it was the perfect break in a busy day.  More on the ice cream no less, I rarely stray away from my tried & true favorite of chocolate, but a vegan mint chip just sounded heavenly. If you guys follow me on social media, my strict self-enforced rule of "eat it, don't tweet it" was broken with this failed snap via Twitter. I am planning on creating a city guide on my favorite places very shortly. Perhaps a part mostly of ice cream? Oh yes, be ready for it.

A lazy relaxed uniform of loose tanks, silk separates, and birks has become my formula for days when the humidity sky rockets. As much as I would rather wear overalls or a more stylish assemble, this whole pajama dressing vibe is working for me quite well.

Pajama dressing & ice cream? Sleep deprivation at its best. Blame it on Laser sailing.

Python

Wearing: Zimmermann shorts (no longer avail.), Equipment blouse, Jack Rogers sandals, Chanel bag, Asha by Adm pendant c/o, Oliver Peoples sunglasses c/o Seaside Luxe

I hope you had a lovely weekend and Easter!

A few months ago, I came across a new level of online shopping; The Dreslyn. To say the least, it might be one of the best curated shops ever. Full of my favorite designers (hey Zimmermann, A.P.C.  Heidi Merrick), I am astonished that I had a some self control when surfing through the site. The two items I did purchase were a grey sweatshirt (worn here) and these Zimmermann shorts which came with me to Anguilla.

I sported silk shorts quite a bit last summer but these have kicked it up a notch. Pairing them with my go-to Equipment blouse that I might wear at least once a week (praise you Equipment) made me feel as if I was wearing sleepwear... for some odd reason, it seems that I am currently into pajama dressing. The python print brought a welcomed change to my usual stripes and solid wardrobe.

Spring Trends | Clothing Rack

L to R: Spell dress, Alexis crop top, Asos skirt, Brandy Melville top (old), Joes Jeans denim, Paul & Joe Sister dress, Zimmermann silk shorts, Vineyard Vines dress c/o-, Mango trousers, Alexander McQueen scarf, Porter magazine, Zara shoes, Comme des Garçons x Converse sneaks, Stubbs & Wootton loafers c/o

After rearranging my room (I promise, more pictures are coming soon!) I finally had space for a clothing rack. This was completely necessary due to an overflowing closet- which to be honest, spends most of the time on the floor. At one point, I began to hang clothes on lighting fixtures in my room. My new rack has kept me more organized and lets me see what I have actually purchased thus far for Spring. Currently it's a collection of my favorite pieces- whites, pale blues, simple prints, and of course, some stripes. On the bottom are a few favorite shoes and magazines. I cannot wait for this weather to warm up and for my upcoming trip to wear some of these pieces.

Two items in particular I cannot wait to wear are this midi skirt and crop top. They are both statement pieces are their own but when paired together, I think it is a really unique yet cool look. You can also see my affinity for printed bottoms like this denim from Joe's or these silky trousers. Please share with me your favorite trends for Spring or items that you just love in general. And of course, to make it easy- shop all the items below:

Beach | Mountain

and to the slopes...

If you are taking a trip this holiday, most of time you are either going to the beach or the slopes. I'm also guessing that you are picking up a few items for your upcoming trip and I'm here to help. I've put together some essentials for each destination. Puffer jackets and cozy knits for the slopes and pastels and metallics for the beach. Check out the travel section of my blog for more travel tips. I would love to know if you are heading anywhere soon!
