Rational Shopping

All rational thinking goes out the window when it comes to online shopping. Somehow, I convince myself that it's perfectly justifiable to buy another pair of sneakers or leather jacket (err... it's on sale!) with summer around the corner. Never less, some of these items are essential to every girl's wardrobe; denim shorts, perhaps?

Push aside the thought of practicality, all these items are at the top of my list. Not that I need anymore shoes, but these sandals fit the bill for my feet- neutral and (almost) flat. Double check. Those paired with a striped top and shorts is my soon-to-be uniform.

 Rational shopping? That's right.

Python

Wearing: Zimmermann shorts (no longer avail.), Equipment blouse, Jack Rogers sandals, Chanel bag, Asha by Adm pendant c/o, Oliver Peoples sunglasses c/o Seaside Luxe

I hope you had a lovely weekend and Easter!

A few months ago, I came across a new level of online shopping; The Dreslyn. To say the least, it might be one of the best curated shops ever. Full of my favorite designers (hey Zimmermann, A.P.C.  Heidi Merrick), I am astonished that I had a some self control when surfing through the site. The two items I did purchase were a grey sweatshirt (worn here) and these Zimmermann shorts which came with me to Anguilla.

I sported silk shorts quite a bit last summer but these have kicked it up a notch. Pairing them with my go-to Equipment blouse that I might wear at least once a week (praise you Equipment) made me feel as if I was wearing sleepwear... for some odd reason, it seems that I am currently into pajama dressing. The python print brought a welcomed change to my usual stripes and solid wardrobe.

Home At Sea

Equipment blouse, Asos pants, Madewell trench, Stubbs & Wootton loafers c/o, Jules Smith choker

"We are tied to the ocean. And when we go back to the sea, whether it is to sail or to watch it we are going back from whence we came- JFK

In the midst of a busy schedule, taking time to appreciate the world rejuvenated my mind-set. Tomorrow is my last day of school before Spring Break and I cannot wait to be heading to Anguilla next week. With the weather warming up, I was able to wear light layers while exploring the Brown campus during their 250 Anniversary last weekend. I paired the outfit with two of my favorite items; this choker and Stubbs & Wootton loafers. Nothing makes me more happy than sitting on the rocks watching the waves roll in as the wind whips around me.

Chill

Wearing: Mango jacket, Asos dress, Equipment sweater, Stuart Weitzman boots, Tony Duquette for Coach ring (old)

After searching for the perfect leather topper, Mango delivered and did not disappoint. I was hesitant to buy a leather jacket, fearing that it would look to "biker-grunge". I picked one with not much hardware and instead it adds easy edge to any outfit. This jacket has been the "missing link" in my wardrobe. It brings any outfit up a notch and I highly suggest purchasing one of your own. Shop leather toppers below:

My birthday is in t-minus 1 week! I get giddy every year when the 6th rolls around because it means I'm one year older and with one more of year of memories, achievements, and wisdom. It also means that I can eat an absurd amount of sweets and I wont be judged. I would love to know if you would like anything special for your birthday! If you haven't entered the J.Crew giveaway I'm hosting- go here! It's only going for a couple more days. Have a wonderful Sunday.

Fall Styling // J.Crew Classics Part 2

J.Crew jacket // Equipment blouse // Asos dress // Shoemint booties (old) // Bauble Bar necklace

Caroline and I are back a week later with another fall fashion post! This week we picked the classic utility jacket; one of J.Crew's bestsellers! I recently purchased this jacket, after it was sold out in my size last year. Caroline and I both agree that this jacket is a must for everyone- if you don't dig the navy, there is an olive color.

I'm wearing my favorite Asos dress. I cannot stress the importance of a great LBD. I have worn mine countless ways and it is perfect for as transition piece (like above). To add another light layer, I am wearing a simple Equipment blouse. The jacket adds a little bit of edge with the hardware on it. To finish off the look, neutral booties and a simple bun!

See how we styled the chambray last week! And be sure to check out Caroline's look. We'll be back next week with another post (and giveaway!)

Whites/Knits

Equipment Shirt- almost the same // NSF Sweater (old) // Jack Rodger Sandals- last seen here // Loeffler Randall Bag // Urban Outfitters Sunglasses // Julie Vos Bracelets c/o

Earlier in the week before this insane heat wave came, I was wearing this shirt(dress) like crazy. It's technically not a dress...I was in Intermix and I grabbed the wrong size for this Equipment shirt and it just worked as a dress! I paired it with a NSF sweater, that I wore religiously last Summer; might be doing the same this Summer! The outfit is mostly neutrals but I love the mix of fabrics and texture, plus the pop of metallic.

On other news, today is my last day of school! #woohoo I am so excited for an amazing Summer ahead! To kick off the season, I am hosting a giveaway with HIHO- enter here

I love weekends that are filled with fun times, and activities.Yesterday, I went into the city for brunch with Katie. We ate at Sullivan's Bistro in Greenwich Village- the pancakes are yummy! Afterward, I walked around a little bit with my dad. I love the city when it's nice weather. If I will be walking around, and need an easy outfit, I always go with silk shorts or pants and a button down blouse. The combination is low maintenance and chic. I am also breaking in my new Jack Rogers, I always get a pair each year and by the end of Summer, they are completely and utterly dead and worn. Today, I went big boat sailing with my dad and a couple of family friends. It was the perfect end to the weekend.

Playing with Neutrals

Recently, I've been mix and matching neutrals for an easy look. I think it's really important to have a solid base of basic neutrals in your closet that you can wear over and over again. Most neutrals are also season less, which is an added bonus! For this look, I paired my favorite Equipment blouse with a sheer Haute Hippie sweater. To make the look different, distressed denim is a no-brainer. I finished the look off with a pop of color of with a maroon hat.

Turquoise + Leopard

I am a huge sweater devotee. I own too many, but I wear them all year round. My latest addition is this cashmere Equipment sweater. I love the bright color and the basic clean cut. To top the sweater, I wore a Dries Van Noten scarf. The combination of bright colors and animal print is a new favorite of mine, except to see tons of it in the future.

Boyfriend Blue Jeans

Lately, I have been wearing boyfriend jeans like crazy! They are definitely a change from my usual skinny jeans. Surprisingly, they are very versatile. You can either dress them up or dress them down. In this case, I dressed them up a little with my favorite Pour La Victoire wedges and a cozy sweater. Be sure to see them tons!

Sloane
