Soho Strollin'

In attempt to find new ways to switch up my favorite piece- um... stripes- I purchased an oversized t-shirt than can be worn as a shirt, tunic, dress (borderline risky though), sleepwear.... the list goes on. Taking the tunic route with a pair of black shorts underneath, which I've now discovered is a wonderful summer outfit. Oops, a little late now to put that into action.

To pull a Tim Gunn and make it work now, over-the-knee boots and a fisherman sweater are the ideal candidates to achieve that.

In Wonderland

With Halloween- my least favorite holiday of them 'em all- sneaking up on us, why not title today's post to one of the best characters/costumes, Alice in Wonderland? Come to think of it, it is slightly more of a mash up of Dorothy from Oz and Alice... there is even some schoolgirl vibes in there. But like always, just go with the flow.

Even though I'll be spending my Halloween at home watching The Shining with a side of zero  FOMO, I'll still be wearing this could-be costume in real life. Paired with witchy boots- embrace the pointed toe!- we avoid getting into actual costume territory. Now that could be scary sight for the eyes.

Gray Area

Despite camel being this season's new black, I've happened to find a place in my sartorial heart for every shade of gray under the sun. So in case you want to find my whereabouts, I'll be gallivanting around in this über oversized knit which happens to be in one of the many shades of gray, or in perhaps one of my latest rediscoveries; this 90s sweatshirt classic. Complete with a matching turtleneck worn under, of course. And just to spare you with the absurd amount of gray puns, I'll refrain myself from being a walking cliche today.

Logical

Bordeaux and caramel (scandi) candy hues are the perfect companion to my top of the totem pole jeans. As camel/caramel does happen to be the "it" color of the season, isn't that inherently stating that "black is the new black"? Never the less, at least these colors help avoid the black cat territory I enter, come the dead of winter.

Perhaps one of the best steals of my life was this Acne Studios blazer, yes indeed it is one size too big, but size smhize. To put it in simpler logic, the bigger size; the closer it is to a blanket. Just be careful not to veer into the slightly frightening 80s lane of shoulder pads.

Sweatshirt Gold

After much convincing to myself that this sweatshirt was worth every little penny, I took the bait on Otte. Buyers remorse? Nope. It most definitely beats my oversized hoodies, to say the least. Perhaps one of the most known pieces of the Euro powerhouse, I finally jumped on the street style gold sweatshirt bandwagon. Never the less, God bless Acne and it's ability to win my heart with it's Scandi coolness and all that jazz. The best part of it all... weekend dressing just became a walk in the park.

On another note, today is my BIRTHDAY! I celebrated most of the weekend, so today will be a pretty low key day.

Good Jeans

Remember last weekend, how I lived in two pair of jeans? Oh yes, it's time to meet the latest addition of the genes jeans pool. Created from the brains at James Jeans, they're yoga-approved and stretchy enough to give the feeling of sweatpants without the indolence factor of my preferred Saturday night duds.

Along with a great pair of new jeans to spruce up my attire, I am still sporting my summertime pullover of choice. As they say, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"...  To top it all off, Anine Bing booties snagged on sale a whilst back and, after several bumps in the road of a broken zipper and a 1/2 size too small, they are finally being worn. Hurrah!

Psht. Time for the weekend.

High Street Friday

When the concept of style staples comes up, it sometimes brings along a hefty price tag because of a common misconception of staples = inve$tment. Whilst this does apply to life's finer goods (i.e. bags, shoes), high street stops like Zara or Topshop offer killer pieces to take you from season to season without a glitch. Let us not forget my Zara playsuit- which has gotten more wear than it's own good- and for when I care for something somewhat similar (remember, keep it spicy), this black jumpsuit wins the Zara draw. The four lettered Spaniard is the quite guilty one for my overflowing wardrobe.

And on the bottom half of the my sartorial spectrum, if you haven't figured it out already, my preferred shoe of choice is a sneaker.... erm #sneakerhead? Introducing my latest catch a la New Balance

The Road

Yesterday, I did the task that summer lovers despise- sorting away the sandals, beach attire, and the general pieces that file under "summer". For me, a sweater fanatic, it was a joyous moment as my knits and lightweight jackets are now proudly hanging on my clothing rack. *Sigh*, I love the changing of the seasons.

A few weeks ago, I was trying to get as much wear in my favorite Topshop slides- which, may I add, saved my poor feet this summer- and those important transition pieces that save your a** during those days that the weather is feeling quite bipolar. So without further ado, join me on the road of odd layering and beautiful fall days ahead.

The Great View

Wearing: Alexis top, J.Crew skirt, Belle by Sigerson Morrison sandals, Saint Laurent bag

I was feeling generous and decided to give you all another healthy helping of good old New York City in what other than black and white. Quite a fine one she is, don't you agree? Or I might just be downright obsessed with these photos.

On the other end, as you are reading this I am in the complete opposite end of the concrete jungle spectrum. You guessed it.

The ocean blue.

Time to set sail to Buzzards Bay for the 2014 Vineyard Race. A sunrise/moonrise instagram will be coming your way soon enough. 'Laters gators.
