The Road

Yesterday, I did the task that summer lovers despise- sorting away the sandals, beach attire, and the general pieces that file under "summer". For me, a sweater fanatic, it was a joyous moment as my knits and lightweight jackets are now proudly hanging on my clothing rack. *Sigh*, I love the changing of the seasons.

A few weeks ago, I was trying to get as much wear in my favorite Topshop slides- which, may I add, saved my poor feet this summer- and those important transition pieces that save your a** during those days that the weather is feeling quite bipolar. So without further ado, join me on the road of odd layering and beautiful fall days ahead.

Knit Worth

Folks, it's time that I let you in the a little secret of mine. J.Crew mens is sweater heaven. Time to close Net-A-Porter, and forget all about those ACNE Studios and Stella $700 knits- first, le sigh. I have fallen hard into my pile of oversized cotton crewnecks or even better, a fisherman sweater that is, I repeat, not on back order. Yep, throwing some sarcastic eye-rolling to you, L.L. Bean.

If you've been keeping up with me, like how you keep up with binge-watching on Netflix... er... weekend in a nutshell... you'd remember this post mentioning the comeback of sweaters in my wardrobe. I can gladly say, whilst I am sweater, that this comeback is real. So fishermankniting good.

The perks of sweaters doesn't end at cozy and warm. The transitional ability is pretty impressive, might I add. Cotton? My best friend 365 days, snow to sand, sleep to class, the list goes on. As much as I love a cashmere sweater, this cableknit is winning my heart right now.

Now, it's Friday (well, duh). So, what better to do than treat yo'self? Perhaps a trip to that men's sweater section? Nothing less for the best.

Great Lengths

New in: this season's latest man repelling item is no one other than my favorite culottes. Along with a duster- which is a mash up of Superhero cape and Sherlock Holmes might I add- is my favorite lazy dressing item for fall. It was the silk shorts in the summer, but August is no more folks. Burnt Sienna- I feel quite silly saying that, in case you are wondering- is my favorite shade to sport. The perfect mix of camel and orange, gives a die hard black cat, some joy of color into her fall wardrobe.

But, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. Today was 95 degrees and the living definition of what mid-July should feel like. All my regards to you, Mother Nature. So, if you can imagine, whipping out those new purchases isn't exactly going to cut it for the moment. Summer staples like a crop top and those insanely comfortable sandals will carry you into the best (next) season with ease.

Now, that's a transition for you, eh?

Studded

Similar to my thoughts on the seasonal peonies Instagram shot, it's something that is overdone to the point where it unconsciously makes you dislike "said thing". Per-se with peonies, I dabbled with one picture into the world of social media- I think that is enough for me.

Without a doubt, the infamous Rockstud shoe a la Valentino, exploded into the fashion world over the past few years. Each editor, blogger, stylist, celebrity, and practically anyone with two feet and is willing to purchase the rockstud is sporting the shoe.

Like the peonies picture, every time you scroll through Instagram or street style, the bloody shoe is there. Personally, the sandal version is quite cool. Alas, here is my one time addition to the profusion of the stud floating through the vast web (courtesy of my mother's shoe closet, who rocks them). Much appreciated, this once.

Take a good look, people. It's the only time the rock stud will be making an appearance. Last show, one night only. I rest my case.

Apologies for the absurd amount of puns here. I couldn't help myself.

La Vie

Wearing: Jacquemus t-shirt, Heidi Merrick shorts c/o, Chanel flats, Céline tote, Ray-Ban shades

Possibly my favorite impulse buy ever from fresh French designer, Jacquemus. The 90s inspired poppy prints and color-blocking added a refreshing twist to my wardrobe of the norm-core neutrals and such. Accessories from my other favorite Frenchies (Phoebe and Coco) refine my Saturday strolling duds.

Because j'aime la vie and we should should live a little. Isn't Jacquemus right? Aha, oui. Last weekend, Amy gave me a mini tour of the West Village. I'm excepting to move into an ivy covered townhouse asap- perhaps this one here and a bike too. K, thanks.

On the topic of color sporting and loving life, today is Prize Day and I'm wearing pink. Oh yes, Barbie pink. Don't fret kids, tousled locks and layered metals are also involved in the situation.

C'est la vie!

Red & Windy

Photos by Reid Parker

To say the least, this weekend was very busy and fun. I was up in Rhode Island to visit my brother at Brown for family weekend. I also had a chance to stop by the HOCR in Boston where I saw Sarah at the KJP x BB booth. I also ran into Mackenzie, Carly and their friends Amy and Emily which was a nice surprise. Back in Newport, we stayed at the Castle Hill Inn. The view there is absolutely breathtaking from sunrise to sunset. While shooting these pictures yesterday morning it was breezy- hence my wild little bun. This easy sweater dress is a new favorite of mine. It's very versatile- I paired it with a fur vest and ankle boots for dinner the previous night.

New England is stunning in the Fall. The foliage surrounds you, the sun is shining and the water glistens. On the way home, we stopped in the tranquil town of Stonington, CT. We have been there before for lunch but it gets even more charming during the fall. The streets are lined with quaint New England homes with pumpkins in the front and fallen leaves scatter the sidewalks. It was a nice moment driving by with the windows down observing the classic beauty that Autumn brings.

Today's post was supposed to be yesterday's outfit, but I was very sore from oral surgery . Instead, I'm sharing my latest inspiration via Instagram. To be honest, I am an Instagram junkie like some people are Pinterest addicted. I follow a ton of people, but above are some of my recent faves.  Be sure to follow me on Instagram, to keep up with my 'grams. I would love to know your favorite account!
