Logical

Bordeaux and caramel (scandi) candy hues are the perfect companion to my top of the totem pole jeans. As camel/caramel does happen to be the "it" color of the season, isn't that inherently stating that "black is the new black"? Never the less, at least these colors help avoid the black cat territory I enter, come the dead of winter.

Perhaps one of the best steals of my life was this Acne Studios blazer, yes indeed it is one size too big, but size smhize. To put it in simpler logic, the bigger size; the closer it is to a blanket. Just be careful not to veer into the slightly frightening 80s lane of shoulder pads.

On the Hunt

I've been searching for the perfect ankle boots after destroying my good 'ole pair during our last horrendous winter. Along with taking the classic Chelsea boot route,I'm also calling in my (nonexistent) Western roots full of worn in leather and a caramel color. These Frye pair the modern take on a cowboy boot- perhaps the rugged cousin of the Chelsea?

Currently Coveting

I mentioned last week how much I'm digging Mango, this skirt is near the top of my wish list. Alexa Chung is one of my top style icons. She embodies a cool/French girl/it Brit/tomboy perfectly; I desperately want to pick up her new book "It". I did a massive jewlery purge over the weekend (selling some of Poshmark) and want to add these two pieces from Julie Vos and Loren Hope to my collection. A classic black bag is the ideal for fall and winter. Same with a cream cashmere knit- wouldn't it look great with leather leggings?! The days are becoming shorter and not to mention, chillier. These playful leggings from Zoe Karseen make loungewear stylish. When I'm out and about, leather gloves keep the hands warm and underneath theem- navy nails. Lastly, black sunglasses are a must have for everyone.

Fall Palette

A.L.C. sweater & skirt // Free People jacket (old)
// YSL pumps (borrowed) // A.V. Max cuff via Lemon Stripes // Celine bag

During fall, I mostly wear the same colors: see Amy's tweet to see what I mean. A couple of weeks ago, I picked up this A.L.C. skirt and top from Intermix. A.L.C. is one of my favorite brands- each piece can be worn over and over and together or as separates. I paired the skirt with one of my favorite sweaters also from A.L.C. The maroon set would look amazing paired with a pale pink or camel coat.  I would love to know what colors or pieces that you will be wearing a ton during fall. See below for some items in my fall color palette. (all because it's fall still expect to see brights and fun prints...)

Fall Styling // J.Crew Classics Part 2

J.Crew jacket // Equipment blouse // Asos dress // Shoemint booties (old) // Bauble Bar necklace

Caroline and I are back a week later with another fall fashion post! This week we picked the classic utility jacket; one of J.Crew's bestsellers! I recently purchased this jacket, after it was sold out in my size last year. Caroline and I both agree that this jacket is a must for everyone- if you don't dig the navy, there is an olive color.

I'm wearing my favorite Asos dress. I cannot stress the importance of a great LBD. I have worn mine countless ways and it is perfect for as transition piece (like above). To add another light layer, I am wearing a simple Equipment blouse. The jacket adds a little bit of edge with the hardware on it. To finish off the look, neutral booties and a simple bun!

See how we styled the chambray last week! And be sure to check out Caroline's look. We'll be back next week with another post (and giveaway!)

Slap A Cap On

Guess what! Baseball caps are in for fall. The thing I find funny is how they are suddenly stylish, when they used to be just for sports. I have countless hats from sailing regattas and now I'm starting to have countless hats that are chic and wearable when I'm not sailing. So, when your having a bad hair day-slap a cap on. See some of my faves below.

Not So Basic

Equipment blouse // J.Crew skirt (in store) / Tory Burch heels (similar style) // Bauble Bar necklace
// Marc by Marc Jacobs Sunglasses //

I was doing a little bit of Fall shopping at Madewell and J.Crew and came across this simple a-line  skirt. It's a chic staple piece that can be worn all year round in many different ways. If you have been reading fashion blogs this past Spring and Summer, you may have seen the "trend" black and white everywhere. Personally, I don't think black and white is a trend, but instead a simple and chic color combo. I decided to wear the B&W look with a white blouse and throw in fun accessories for a not so basic look.

Speaking of J.Crew my blogger bud, Caroline from citrus & style and I are collaborating this Fall to bring you some stylish outfits showcasing our favorite pieces from J.Crew! We are so thrilled for the series and we hope you will enjoy it!
